Sumedha – The King of Udawalawe National Park
Sumedha is perhaps the most famous tusker in Udawalawe National Park. Known as the King of Udawalawe, he is estimated to be around 39 years old.
Visitors admire Sumedha for his impressive size, powerful build, and distinctive crossed tusks. Despite his strength, he is known for his calm temperament.
Even during the breeding season, known as musth, Sumedha often behaves more calmly around safari vehicles than many other male elephants. Wildlife photographers and elephant lovers from around the world hope to see this remarkable giant during their safari.

Bullet is another iconic tusker in Udawalawe National Park. He is well known among experienced safari guides and local wildlife enthusiasts.
Outside the musth season, Bullet is often seen near the Udawalawe–Thanamalwila Road. This provides excellent opportunities for visitors to observe and photograph him from a safe distance.
During musth, Bullet naturally becomes more focused on breeding behaviour. At these times, experienced safari guides maintain a respectful distance to protect both visitors and the elephant.
Aravinda – A Rising Star of Udawalawe National Park
Aravinda is one of the younger tuskers in Udawalawe National Park. He is estimated to be around 27 years old.
As he continues to mature, Aravinda has become increasingly popular among wildlife photographers and safari visitors. Many elephant enthusiasts enjoy following his journey as he grows into one of the park’s future dominant tuskers.
